THIS IS MY 400TH BUCKET LIST ITEM!!!!!!!
This first time I tried to fly in a seaplane was back in 2012 when I made a trip to visit Shiran in Miami. Unfortunately, since I was by myself and they required two people to fly, I couldn’t go. Since Chris and I were going for her wedding, it was the perfect opportunity to go flying.
Perfect opportunity indeed since when I tried to go before it was super gloomy out and this time the sky was amazing. We got to watch the plane land and cruise into the dock area.
Watching a plane float on water is pretty cool. Being inside a plane that floats on water is even cooler! We walked out onto the pontoons and got in.
The pilot had to push us out into the water some before starting up the engines. Once started, we coasted along the water till we were out of the no wake zone and then took off. The flight was about 15 minutes and took us over downtown Miami.
To land, the pilot cut the engines and let the wind take control and then turned the engine back on right before coasting onto the water. It was definitely a great experience and unlike flying in any other plane I’ve been in. I highly recommend trying a tour somewhere.
*Thank you Chris for accompanying me on this adventure.
WOULD I DO THIS AGAIN: Absolutely!
