I’ve been wanting to stay in a bed and breakfast for awhile now. While looking up various ones, I’ve noticed that a lot only offer a continental style breakfast. My stipulation for a real bed and breakfast was that the owner cook a big breakfast to complete the BREAKFAST portion of it. At Harmony Hill, I was not disappointed.

Harmony Hill is a bed and breakfast located in Nelson County in central Virginia. Relatively close to Charlottesville and all the wineries and breweries of the blue ridge traill. We started our journey by partaking in a few of those amenities and went to Veritas Winery, Pollak Winery, Blue Mountain Brewery, and Devil’s Backbone Brewery.

We also tried to pick our own fruits at an orchard near by but they didn’t allow picking at this time so that had to be canceled. We arrived at Harmony Hills a little early but were greeted with warm welcomes from the owner Wendie. The house was beautiful with country accents and large rooms with in room bathrooms.

She provided information on the area, as well as entertainment in the house with games and plenty of DVDs. The best part of the stay was of course the BREAKFAST. Wendie made home made fruit and yogurt parfaits, sausage and some of the best homemade french toast I’ve ever had. The food just kept on coming until I was stuffed.

I really enjoyed my stay and my first time in a B&B. I can’t imagine all the work that goes into it to change out all the rooms daily, cook, clean and enjoy your own home all at the same time. I will say that I do enjoy my privacy and being in someone else’s house was a little different for me but it was still nice. I would definitely go back. The trip ended on a beautiful stop to Crabtree Falls. While we couldn’t hike due to the rain, we were able to enjoy the overlook and complete our stay in the blue ridge mountains.
