One year ago, Troy and I were eating in an IHOP when out of nowhere; all these people were coming in to eat and were full of outrageous colors and costumes. What in the world were these people doing? I would soon find out that it was a Color Me RAD race…and I just HAD to do it!

The race provided everyone with some RAD glasses and suggested that everyone wear a white shirt to allow full color to be seen. Lina and I were racing it together and decided to make use of my Superman socks and go as superheroes. She was Batman, and of course I was Superman again. Our costumes were pretty ridiculous since we made our capes out of cheap towels cut in half. Since the race was crazy, we assumed we were one of many crazy costumes.

Upon arriving, we soon realized that we were only of a handful that decided to go all out, but that also meant plenty of pictures were taken of us since we were separated from the sea of white shirts. While waiting for it to start, we kept warm by running around the field and flying…as most heroes do.

The race began, and was so narrow and packed that it was hard to even run at all. We decided to keep a fun pace, jamming out to 80s music instead. When color bomb zones came up, we decided to go superhero crazy and run/fly through them. I can’t wait to see the professional pictures that come out of that! The color zones were comprised of colored cornstarch being thrown, or a color liquid being sprayed onto us. By the end, we were a sea of pink, orange, green and yellow. I was mostly yellow and felt like a McDonald’s mascot gone horribly wrong.

As we made it to the finish line we were given a color bomb package for the finale. We all stood at a stage and let the bombs off together. Cornstarch was everywhere and it was nothing but dust in front of your eyes. This was definitely a lot of fun and a great way to incorporate a little exercise into your day.

After the race, I decided to end it as it all started…by eating at IHOP. Only this time, I was the outrageous one decked out in crazy colors.
