LOCATION: Hampton Coliseum. Hampton, VA
Having multiple people tell me that I needed to add go to a monster truck show on my list, I decided to add it. Based on stories, it seemed to be a pretty promising event. After all, Stone Crusher and Avenger were going to be there, what could possibly go wrong?
The event was at the Hampton Coliseum, which is very small. There were two mini dirt hills and one large one in the middle. Two trucks were allowed in the arena at the same time and there was only room to run over one of the dirt hills before needing to turn around with the hopes to get enough speed to make a jump look good. The wait times between trucks and the wait times for a jump set up really slowed down the little action there was. This was supposed to be exciting? I felt like I was the only one not impressed until I saw the look on the rest of the people in my group that night; they weren’t exactly happy either.
I had this view in my mind that a monster truck show was going to be a bunch of the trucks out running the track and jumping over things all together. This was more like a jump competition and nothing else. After an hour, it was over. We all looked at each other wondering “was that it?” Needless to say, the arena was way too small for something like this which left the audience with a pretty disappointing time.
*Thanks Troy, John and Terri for accompanying me on this adventure and for securing free tickets!
WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?: Nope. Not unless there was a more exciting one to go to.
