LOCATION: Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
This item is part of my Contiki Trip Series.
For my first train ride, I would be going on a cog rail to the highest railway station in Europe; Jungfraujoch. The cog rail ride was 2 hours up and stopped 4 times along the way to allow for altitude acclamation.
While we traveled, our tour guide told us to eat candy because it would help our bodies adjust to the thinner oxygen. The ride up was slow, but we had pretty views so it didn’t make it too boring. The ride down took just as long, but we didn’t have to stop as much for adjustments. The lack of oxygen did make us all tired though and a lot of us slept on the way down.
*Thank you Shiran and Sue-Anne for accompanying me on this adventure
WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?: The cog rail up to Jungfraujoch was fun. Next I want to go on a regular train or a steam train.
Contiki Travel is HIGHLY recommended. I would do this all over again a million times. www.contiki.com
