I can’t think of a better first helicopter experience than that of going over the Grand Canyon. Five of us piled into the chopper with our pilot and prepared for the journey. I’ve only ever ridden in planes before, so the upward motion and the constant feeling of being directed downward was very foreign to me. A few times it made my stomach flip since I wasn’t used to it. We soared over the Grand Canyon and it was amazing. We saw sites that normal people would never get to see just hiking around and were able to go over areas not used by the public. There were edges that just abruptly stopped. Our pilot explained that people accidentally (or on purpose) drive off the edges since they aren’t marked well. There are several cars at the bottom of the canyon. It costs too much money to extract them, so the park just paints them to look like the desert flooring. The entire flight only lasted about 45 minutes, but was so incredible. I suggest everyone tour the canyon this way.

*Thank you to all the great people on my trip for accompanying me on this adventure. It wouldn’t have been the same without you all.

WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?: Yes! Helicopters rock! The views of the Grand Canyon were amazing.

Trek America Travel is HIGHLY recommended. I would do this all over again a million times. www.trekamerica.com
