#196: Learn How to Make Jewelry

My finished bracelet

My finished bracelet

LOCATION: Bead Goes On. Virginia Beach, VA

I’ve never really been into jewelry, but when I do wear something I like for it to be pretty and unique. Therefore, I’ve always wanted to know how to make my own jewelry for those just in case purposes. The place I went to was called the Bead Goes On. When I walked in, I was surrounded by all the beads you could ever possibly imagine. The store’s owner actually traveled around the world for the beads in her shop. There were beads from India, Japan, Switzerland, Mexico, you name it. I was also awestricken by how MUCH the beads actually cost. No wonder necklaces were so expensive.

It was just me and the teacher in the class tonight. It was nice getting a full, hands on, one on one experience. I would say after one lesson, I was fully capable of making a standard necklace or bracelet. The more intricate stuff would have to wait.

I wasn’t able to take photos during the class since she was sitting right next to me and was going fast. However, this website sums up the whole process. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Beaded-Necklace

WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?: I’m not super into jewelry, so probably not. But, it was a nice class to do some really pretty pieces with.

HOW TO DO THIS: The Bead Goes On offers classes for $25. http://www.beadgoeson.com/
